FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Single and Feeling Like ‘Something’s Missing’ In Your Life?

Webster NY, January 9, 2006: Single adults can now build new, happy, relationships with SAM’s Lambs, a Single Adult Ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Webster NY.

SAM’s Lambs started in the fall of 2002 and have met weekly at Good Shepherd church, on the corner of Route 250 and State Road in Webster NY. The group was formed to answer a need expressed in the national  Episcopal Newspaper's article ‘Is There Seating for One in the Church?’. Good Shepherd’s rector, Father Lance Robbins, a single parent, and Betty Van Volkenburg, a parishioner and single parent also, as well as former founder of a secular non-profit singles organization, pooled their talents to start the group, and were assisted by some faithful singles who joined the group. This is one parish where actions speak louder than words in answer to that question, and community involvement is their byword.

SAM’s Lambs is open to all single adults, from new grads to new retirees, of any marital status, whether never married, divorced or widowhood, and of any faith, or even no faith. The group is a volunteer run organization and programs are planned for all of life’s phases. Membership is free, thanks to a small freewill donation at meetings and monthly Singles Feasts and some ongoing fund-raising, like the presentation of A Broadway Revue at the Auditorium on Sat March 4,2006 at 2:00 pm by Stages 2006 - www.mjtstages.com and proceeds from Our Galleria www.ourgalleria.com  an online Gift Shop.

Whether it’s Breaking Bread together, making a joyful noise in dancing, singing or laughing together, sharing tender moments in intimate discussions together, going to concerts together, or worshipping together – the theme is let’s get TOGETHER, and make new relationships with some like-minded friends. Group members have been delighted to find out – you CAN be a Christian AND have fun too!

The program year has four sessions – Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer, with the summer session consisting of only social events. Sessions include weekly small group discussions with trained facilitators on either general relationship topics, or Bible based singles-oriented study group and use a variety of materials - books, videos or tapes. The January 2006 weekly Sunday Singularity gatherings use Dr. Wayne Dyer's audio CDs to inspire New Year goals and resolutions.

Occasional lectures or seminars by local professionals expand the support and educational themes.  Open Fund-raiser events, like dances, dinners, sports or entertainment are planned during the year. All events are opportunities to build a fellowship of caring friends.

More information can be found on SAM’s Lambs web site at http://www.samslambs.org  or by calling the church and leaving a message on the singles voice mail, 585-872-2281. A SAM’s Lamb volunteer will be happy to return your call and answer questions.
