Welcome to SAM’s Lambs Did you know Monroe County, NY has 82,042 single
households? SAM’s Lambs is a Single Adult Ministry with the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Webster NY. Our first open informational meeting was held on October 22, 2002, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, corner of Route 250 & State Rd., Webster NY. As of Nov 1, 2002 we had 6 members, and as of June 1, 2005 we have 217 on our mailing list. Tuesday night meetings, with coffee & conversation from 7:00 pm and small group meetings at 7:30 pm to 9 pm, are held from September through May. Summertime is playtime! A Brochure in Word is available here, but if you can't access it, this is an overview of our Single Adult Ministry: Mission: Worship Groups/Speakers Service Support Social Worship –Attendance is encouraged at worship services at your home church or at Good Shepherd’s existing or new singles-focus services. Our tradition at Good Shepherd is that all baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord’s Table for Eucharist and you don’t have to be a registered member of Good Shepherd church. But, if you would like information on becoming a member or becoming a Christian, call our info line above - 800-214-2864 Study/small groups – Speaker/video/book series with discussion and/or workbook using singles slanted materials and resources, or interest group meetings - planning for social, community involvement, and recreational interests. Service – Volunteering together for church and community- for instance, A Meal and More, Youth/Sunday School/Nursery group leaders, Highway Trash picker uppers, working on United Way or fund raising for worthy causes Support – Participants will share mutual support in times of stress from any of life’s pressures – divorce, illness, death, career changes, parenting, relocation and re-establishing family network (college, career or other changes) Fellowship/Social – Monthly Cabaret! plus - sharing meal at each other’s homes, movie nights, Friday night Fish Frys, Dance night – learn line, circle dances that don’t require a partner, attending concerts or a local singles dance together Costs – There is no membership fee but donations are accepted to defray minimal expenses, and some social events may have ticket prices. A newsletter of recent activities is published periodically on the site or US mailed to non-internet members. You are invited to join us at worship and coffee hour on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, corner of Route 250 (Fairport-Webster Rd) and State Road. We have a special greeter for our single visitors and friends. You can’t miss the church – we’ve built a new one right next to our first church to accommodate our growing congregation.
