September 2004 Update

We finally had summer for a week or so at the end of August and our old-time prognasticators tell me that the mean winter last year and the drizzly summer means we will have a beautiful fall and a warmer winter. We’ll see, but I’m not sure if they’re any better at interpreting the weather than they are at interpreting the Bible.

OPEN HOUSE – Tues Sept 14, 7:00 pm - SAM’s new program year starts Sept 14^th with an Open House information night where we can register for Fall groups and social activities.

New Facilitators of groups will receive a half day of training in early Sept. We’ll continue to meet on Tues eves – 7:00 pm for Mix ‘N Mingle, 7:30 – 9:00 pm for small groups, 9:00 pm Coffee & dessert. Weekly small groups will be Open/Drop-in for Newcomers, and Success Team groups by Life phase – Never Married, Sep/Div, Widowed. Fall Session Groups are for 3 months – Sept - Nov. Some groups may elect to continue into Dec. In deference to Winter, we’ll decide in Dec whether to have weekly Tues night meetings in Winter, and only meet for Social activities on weekend days.

Our Birthday celebration date has been set but as of today I don’t have the details – you’ll have to get that from the meetings, or our site. But, you can always plan on Food, Music and Fun!

1^st Tuesdays – The first Tuesday is always an Open event with Music, or Speakers, or other special activity.

• Oct 5 – Singles Faire – A Hobby & Crafts show to display talents of our members. Register online now or at our Open House on 9/14 to display your artwork, or craft, or share your musical talent on Oct 5^th. We’ll also have a silent Auction of gifts from http://www.ourgalleria.com  and catalogs on hand to place your Christmas orders at a 15% discount with proceeds to benefit SAM’s Lambs.
• 11/2 – Travel & Luau Party – See a video of where we are cruising in the winter, and register for the Cruise. Final payments are due Nov 30^th. Win a prize for the best Caribbean costume. Everyone gets a free vacation certificate and a free flower garland.
• 12/7 – Make A Joyful Noise – Celebrate the season with Music by our entertainers. Audience participation will not only be allowed but expected, and we’ll have a way to help you even if you have a tin ear and sing off key.

Winter Caribbean Cruise – Jan 31, 2005 – Feb 4, 2005

THE REV’s sermons are now online. You can hear Father Lance’s sermons on SAM’s site at the link below. But, don’t use that as an excuse not to come to hear him in person. Besides, only a few samples will be available and you don’t want to miss out. Remember too, just as all are welcomed by Jesus, everyone of all faiths, or no faith, are welcome at our Sunday Service.
