SAM’S LAMB’S A Monthly Newsletter of SAM’s Lambs At The Episcopal Church Of The Good Shepherd Webster NY 585-872-2281 VM # 3 Update August 1, 2004 We just finished July right, not April? I'm thinking of planting rice in the swamp that used to be my backyard. But, it could be worse - like last winter. Even though it is only August, we have to look ahead to Fall, and prepare for our next program year. Here are some things we need feedback on. 1) Co-hosting a winter cruise with The Singles Center. Is anyone from SAM's interested in doing this? You can see a sample cruise itinerary and costs at http://www.singlescenter.com/Travel/samplecruise.htm What dates - a New Year's cruise between Christmas and NY's, or in Jan or Feb? A special booking page would be set up for SAM's cruisers. 2) Support and Educational groups – let me know if you have interest in - i) A Divorce Recovery group? We're thinking of adding this, using material and training from If you have experience leading a support group, or counseling, or would like to learn how to lead a group – we need you. ii) A health & fitness/weight management? I've recently gotten into a diet program that has a national online self help group. I would like to form a local group to help keep me on track. The program is based on a meal replacement called TED - The Enzyme Diet. The leader lost 122 lbs and got off diabetic medicine in 10 mos. This could be for anyone, not just for singles. http://www.yourbestdiet.com/healthy iii) Singularity bible study - anyone interested? I'd like to participate or lead a spirituality group to look at the Bible & religion from a singles viewpoint, but I could use a couple of buddies. We’d decide the night, and content/format. 3) Solo Flight singles conference over Labor Day weekend - This is a singles retreat at Kanuga Conference center in Henderson NC.
I will be attending to network with other people who are starting and
growing Singles Ministries. This is for single clergy or lay people who
would just like a renewing spiritual weekend and interacting with
like-minded single people, or to learn about Singles Ministries. This is
for all faiths, not just Episcopal. Let me know if you would like to be my
roommate (if you're female :-) ) 4) Summer activities - we're still attending band concerts and other musical events, and classic car cruises, when we're not rained out. If you want to join us, call our Hot line at 585-872-2281 vm #3. Thurs Aug 12 & 13 – Good Shepherd Garage Sale – Look for SAM’s table – your purchase of gifts from Our Galleria catalog supports our Single Adult Ministry. You can also shop online at www.ourgalleria.com Sunday Aug 15 - Picnic at a Sodus Point cottage: A sharing summer picnic at Audrey Bergen's at Sodus Point. Call the hot line and leave your name for a call back on directions. It will be a sharing picnic - uncoordinated - bring whatever food adn libation you want to share with the other picnicers. 5) Happy 2nd Birthday to SAM: When we re-convene in September, it will start with a Birthday Bash and Open House event co-hosted with The Singles Center, www.singlescenter.com/UpstateNY to attract more single people. Of course we’ll have food and music, but it's a toss up on what the food, format and location should be. We could use your input - come to our picnic on Aug 15 and put in your 2 cents too.
