Greetings Lambs, What You Missed: Saturday Aug 19, Noon - We welcomed 12 newcomers at a bountiful Brunch in our Parish Hall. Unmarried people from Good Shepherd were present to welcome our new friends. The fellowship we enjoy at Good Shepherd is sorely needed by singles who are alone and don’t have the advantage of our warm and friendly congregation. This summer’s newcomers are the last group of newcomers to receive free membership in our group, as we begin our 06-07 program with a membership fee of $10/year. The membership fee will be used to provide a member discount to meetings and events, like our Christmas party in December. COMING – Saturday Sept 9, 7 pm – Euchre in our Parish Hall. All Sam’s Lambs afre invited to Good Shepherd’s monthly Euchre gathering. Future Euchre nights will be on the 1st Saturday. Sunday Sept 10, 10 AM – Eucharist and Picnic in the Park. SAM’s Lambs are invited to join Good Shepherd’s congregation at their annual picnic at Webster Park. To reserve and get directions please call our Voice Mail 872-2281 voice mail # 3. Tues Sept 12, 7 – 9 pm - Opening night for our new Fall program.
We also have an article in our Episcopal Diocese newspaper - the Living Water, which you can see on our site too. Our plan for the fall can be seen in that article We have ads out announcing new groups for singles under age 40. If we get a minimum of 12 under-40 singles we will have groups by age range. If not, then we continue with topic centered groups. We have interesting new plans for the fall and you can get the agenda at our opener on Sept 12, or find the plan on our site prior to then, or look for it in the article that will be appearing in the September issue of the Episcopal Living Water, our Episcopal Diocese Newspaper. Our program year includes social events, like a monthly Feast - a sharing dinner for $2/$3 and a dish-to-pass. Feasts are open to all singles, of all faiths and ages. We are looking into ways to provide live music at our monthly SAM’s Feasts, maybe even by some of our talented Good Shepherd people. We are also working on a SAM’s Friends network of Singles Sharing dinners at various parishes in our Diocese. The dates and locations will be announced in a future newsletter when that has been finalized. Saturday Sept 16, 5:30 pm – SAM’s Sharing Dinner in our Parish Hall – All singles are invited to join us for Fun, food, and fellowship – Bring $3 and a dish-to-pass, and a joke for our Risso Therapy. See our Risso Therapy department for a sample. Sunday October 8 – Singles Sunday at Good Shepherd. A unique event at Good Shepherd where our church recognizes the other 52% of the population. ‘The Spirituality of Singularity’ will be presented at 9 am in our Library, and information on our group and Single Adult Ministry in general will be available at coffee hour. Join us at 9 for the presentation, and after Eucharist, stop by the SAM’s Lambs information table at coffee hour and find out more about what a Single Adult Ministry is all about – and – it’s not a dating club. It’s our way of following his command - Love one another as I have loved you. (and spread it around), and having fun as we do it.
