Update June 1, 2006

Greetings Lambs,

This issue is about our -  2006 Summer Calendar
and your B'Day present from me :

Details for events will be on our Hot Line, as well as on this site.  Our Tuesday support and education discussions have concluded for our 05-06 program year and will resume again in September. For the summer, in typical Episcopalian fashion, we will not have weekly meetings, but we will have many social events which you can see on our site, as they are often spontaneous and posted on our site and on our Hot Line at the last minute. We'll be taking in as many free concerts as possible in Webster, Ontario, Ontario Beach, or anywhere else in the area. One of our members plays keyboard in 3 different bands so our little 'groupie' group will be following them around,.  We may  even get in a day or weekend trip somewhere.

Our next regular event is our monthly Feast, which will be a picnic and planning afternoon at Betty Van Volkenburg's home in Webster. Please sign up using our register form  or call our Hot Line and leave your name and phone number, and we will get back to you with directions.

Other Coming Events:
Our Kick-off event for 06-07 program year will be on Sat September 16th, and will have introductory workshops by age group, plus entertainment and a dinner. Our featured entertainer will be none other than 'Reverend Mother' aka Phylus Contestable, of Nunsense.
See her bio at http://www.revmotogo.com/

Starting with our Fall monthly Sharing Dinners/Feasts we would like to make them  a musical night as well, and have a name change to 'Agape Cafe' or 'Agape Coffeehouse'. Which do you like, and do you have a talent you can share at our feasts?

We're considering separate groups for single people in their 20s, 30s, or 40s, and if we have a minimum of 6 in each age group we will be able to have separate discussion groups. Community Calendar announcements have been sent to the media, but word-of-mouth works good too, so tell your friends and family.

We're also working on preparing a video of our group, courtesy of Webster Cable Channel 12,  to inform our local Webster people.

Of course, all of the above is dependent on having some singles from Good Shepherd who are willing to volunteer and share fellowship not only with singles in our church but from outside our church - 'churched' or 'unchurched' who need our fellowship.

We'll have planning discussions at our picnics in June and July, so come on out and have some fun with our fellow good shepherds and let's get ready to welcome new friends in September. Your ideas are always welcome anytime - call our Hot Line (above)

Make sure you read the announcement about Solo Flight Labor Day weekend conference at Kanuga Conference Center in Henderson NC. This conference was the inspiration for the founding of our own Singles Ministry.  I will be attending and I am looking for others who would not only like to receive information and training in Singles Ministry, but get to meet the most positive, spiritual, fun-loving singles and single priests you would ever want to meet, outside of Good Shepherd.

You can get more information from their Yahoo! Group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/soloflightepis      Click on 'Files" when you get there and you'll find background info on Solo Flight and Single Adult Ministry, as well as an application for the next conference on Sept 1 - 4, 2006, with the theme 'Solo Flight and the Spirituality of Homing'.  You can also get a copy of the application on our site at:
Solo Flight 2006 - in pdf format

At Solo Flight we get to make friends from across the country and to share ideas on reaching singles in our community and welcoming them to our Singles Ministry and church
