August 2008 UPDATE

We hope everyone had as enjoyable a summer as we did in our singles ministry, and now it is time to think about our Fall program. If you are unmarried, for any reason – never married, divorced/separated, widow or widower, we invite you to join us in our new and exciting programs.

See the description of  August events for many fun things to do. Not everyone will be able or will want to do all that is on the calendar, but we do have a small group who attends almost everything so come along and join us. Just leave your name on our Voice Mail so we can call with directions and details.

We are including a general overview of our agenda for the Fall. We will meet on August 17 at 1 pm, at a member's home in Webster, to finalize details which will be announced in our September newsletter at the end of August. The meeting will be followed by a sharing picnic at 2:30 pm.  If you would like to attend our planning meeting and/or sharing picnic  please call our voice mail above for directions.

FALL PROGRAM:

** NEW - A monthly Singles Networking event at the Webster Community Center for all singles in Webster or surrounding towns, or Rochester. Newcomers will be able to receive information on SAM’s Lambs and enroll in our programs, or make plans to visit us.

** Monthly social event, with music, in our Parish Hall, and possibly occasional speakers.

** Ongoing discussion groups – on Relationship topics, and Bible/Spirituality study, where we can make new friends, maintain current friendships and build fellowship and support.

** Community Involvement – where we will participate in volunteer activities like A Meal & More,
or at events with Single Volunteers of Rochester.

** Book Club – We will meet monthly to discuss a current book that book club members will be reading.

** Social Events – in addition to the ongoing socializing and fellowship of all of the above, we will also attend local singles events, like dances, or movies, or concerts or whatever we decide in our groups.

** All participants are also invited to join us in Sunday worship, coffee hour after service, and brunch at a local restaurant

For questions, please call our info line above and leave a message, and please tell your single friends about our group. You can also learn more about our national Singles Ministry – Solo Flight at - http://arc.episcopalchurch.org/episcopal-life/Solo.html

An annual training conference is held each year over Labor Day at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, NC - http://www.kanuga.org/conferences/2008/solo_flight.shtml where single priests and lay people gather from all over the U.S. I hope to attend again this year, and possibly along with Father Lance so let us know if you would also like to attend.
